Tapping into learners’ behaviors and trends is a powerful thing, as we’ve written about before in our previous article on analytics and data. But did you know you can use Elucidat as a survey tool to dig even deeper into your audiences’ needs, wants, and opinions?

Surveys—long, boring, and you never see the answers, right?
When we think of surveys, we often think of laborious lists of questions, which we answer and then don’t get to see the results.

1. Find out what learners think or need before you design
Before you even start creating content, run a survey to find out what learners really think about a subject or what they rate as their top needs. Use a combo of single-choice questions, Likert scales, and open inputs to get a rich range of inputs.
Might people hold an opinion that’s actually a myth? Might they feel more negative or positive about a subject than you had thought? Might there be a big divide between how leaders and how team members respond to a given scenario?

2. Create personalized learning journeys

So, if they say they need help with presentation skills, set up rules and branching so that content is given to them.
If they say they are highly confident in key areas, yet they answer a related question incorrectly, link through to a few challenges.
Or why not start to profile their work/leadership style by asking them some scenario-based questions? In this example, we profile learners’ leadership style according to their answers and branch off to different pages that show different visual outcomes depending on how the learners answer.

3. Have your survey also deliver social learning
